What Is Reading-Speed Optimization?

We can automatically shorten subtitles to improve readability. The amount of compression required is determined by how many characters per second (cps) a viewer can comfortably read.

Why It is Ideal for Translated Subtitles

Reading-optimized subtitles in the same language can feel slightly odd. That's because, unconsciously, you end up reading the subtitles, but the text doesn't match the spoken words exactly. This is not an issue with translated subtitles, where the wording is different by nature. So slight variations are no longer noticeable or distracting.
